Low Calorie Holiday Drinks to help you stay on track!

I can’t believe Christmas is 9 days away!  It’s my favourite time of year! This year December seems to have flown by and I feel off track on my Christmas planning, baking, and shopping.    With Christmas comes many parties and get-togethers where there are delicious appetizers, drinks, meals, cheese boards, desserts and goodies galore!  Despite all the extra temptation I have decided to indulge when I want to but I do not want to undo all my hard work so far this month!  I have compiled this list of low calorie drinks that can be enjoyed this Christmas and well into the cold winter nights!

The Pomegranate Mojito (source Peanut Butter and Peppers) is a beautiful drink that shows deep red hues of the holiday season! This cocktail tastes delicious thanks to champagne and pomegranate juice!  This drink is low calorie and low sugar!

1/3 cup light pomegranate juice
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 ounce rum
1/4 teaspoon Stevia or sugar
1/2 cup champagne
Pomegranate seeds

Directions: In a glass, add pomegranate juice, lime juice, rum, and sugar. Mix well. Fill the glass with ice cubes and top it off with champagne and pomegranate seeds.

Rosemary Gin Fizz (from Cookie and Kate) is so easy to make and so low in calories it will definitely be a crowd pleaser!

3 sprigs rosemary
1 small lemon, juiced
1/2 teaspoon honey
1 1/2 ounces gin
3 ounces club soda

Directions: In a small drinking glass, muddle the fresh rosemary, lemon juice, and honey. Fill the glass with ice, then pour with gin and top with club soda.

Apple Cider Moscow Mule (from Sugar and Charm), this is sure to be a huge crowd pleaser!  Ginger beer, apple cider and vodka – you can’t go wrong with this bad boy!

2 ounces ginger flavored vodka (but plain will work too)
2 ounces apple cider (we love homemade!)
1 small lime wedge, juiced
Ginger beer to top off, to taste
Cinnamon to sprinkle

Directions: In a copper mug, add the vodka, apple cider, and lime juice. Fill the glass with ice, sprinkle cinnamon over the ice, and top off with ginger beer. Stir well and garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon stick.

Healthy Spiced Egg Nog (from Get Fit Diva) wil lbe sure to satisfy your egg nog craving this holiday season!

1 1/2 ounces SMIRNOFF Cinna-Sugar Twist Flavored Vodka
ground cinnamon
3 ounces of low-fat egg nog

Directions: Fill a shaker with ice cubes,vodka, and eggnog and shake. Fill a low ball galss with ice cubes and pour shaker ingredients into glass. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon.

This Mulled Wine (from Gimme some Oven) is the perfect drink to enjoy while sitting by the fire listening to some Christmas carols!  This recipe takes 20 minutes and is sure to warm you up!


1 bottle red wine
1 orange, sliced
1/4 cup brandy
1/4 cup honey or sugar
8 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks

Directions: Combine all ingredients into a non-aluminum saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer for 15 minutes. Strain and serve warm.

Finally the Boozy, Skinny Hot Chocolate (from Fit Foodie Finds) is sure to be a hit with all the adults after a day of skating, skiing or playing in the snow!  This drink is decadent but keeps your calories in check by using unsweetened almond milk and stevia!

2 cups unsweetened almond milk
5 teaspoons high quality cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon stevia (or to taste)
1 ounce amaretto

Directions: Place all ingredients in a small saucepan and turn heat to medium/high. Using a whisk or spoon, continuously mix until fully combined. Bring milk to a simmer and take off heat. Serve with non-fat cool whip and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
